  • salt - suitable for any materials. It should be poured generously, gently rubbed into the fabric, let it stand for a while, and then just brush it off. If you can’t immediately remove the greasy stain from the clothes with salt, repeat the procedure,
  • chalk or starch - Great options for white clothing made from natural fabrics (cotton, linen, silk). Sprinkle the stain with chalk powder or potato starch and forget about it for 2-3 hours. The rest of the powder will be brushed off by yourself, and then you can already stain the contaminated area and send the item to standard washing,
  • crumb of bread - well absorbs fat from spots on fleecy fabrics (velor, velveteen, velvet, plush). For light clothing, take white bread, and for dark - black. Mash a piece of crumb in your fingers, attach to a contaminated area and slightly press it into the surface. Leave on for 10-15 minutes,
  • mustard powder - the optimal sorbent for dark and colored clothing made from natural fabrics. The powder is slightly diluted with water to the consistency of thick sour cream, the resulting mass is applied to the area with a stain for 20-30 minutes.

In cases of the appearance of fresh small oily spots, you can do without dry soaking, and immediately proceed to the "water procedures".

Wet the patches of tissue where stains appear. This should be done under a stream of hot running water from the inside - so the water will knock out particles of fat out of the structure of the fibers of the tissue, preventing them from soaking inward. Lather well on both sides, starting with the wrong one. Leave the item in a soaked, soapy state for several hours. Then manually rub the spots of dirt and completely wash the clothes in the recommended mode.

Stains of fat on clothes made of dense natural fabrics, such as jeans, after soaping are advised to sprinkle sugar on top and rub with a brush. Instead of laundry soap, to remove a greasy stain from clothes at home, you can also use:

  • gel for washing dishes - suitable for all types of fabrics. The concentrated gel is applied to the stain, rubbed and after a few minutes washed from the wrong side under a stream of hot water,
  • shaving foam or gel - they lubricate the contaminated place, rub it with your fingers into the fabric fibers, leave for 5-10 minutes, then send it to the washing machine,
  • shampoo (better for oily hair) - effective for clothes made of delicate fabrics (silk, chiffon, wool). It is poured onto a stain, rubbed lightly with your hands and left for 30-40 minutes.

Refined gasoline

Refined gasoline will dissolve fats well on dark clothes made of cotton and linen, knitwear. They moisten a cotton swab and wipe the stain from the edges to the center. For better impregnation, it is advised to lay a cloth soaked in gasoline or paper under the stain to be treated. Another option is to hold wood (not coniferous) sawdust in gasoline so that they get well wet, pour them on the places of pollution and leave to dry.

Glycerin is recommended as a reliable way to remove old greasy stains from clothing from knitted, silk and delicate fabrics. A few drops should be applied directly to the area of contamination, allowed to stand for 20-30 minutes, and then wipe the stain with a cotton swab or a clean rag from the edges to the center. The action of glycerol will enhance ammonia if mixed in equal parts and diluted with water (1: 1: 1). The solution is moistened with a swab, stains are wiped off and left for 10-15 minutes.

Table vinegar is able to rid clothes of old stains of fat. It must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1. The solution stains the soiled areas of the tissue with plenty and leave for 15-20 minutes.

You can also soak stubborn stains in concentrated salt solution (5 tablespoons per 1 liter of hot water) and a little rub the problem areas with your hands. If the spots are not completely full, additionally treat them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

Alcohol solution

Alcohol solution with salt is suitable for denim and other dense fabrics. Salt is dissolved in alcohol (vodka) in a 1: 3 ratio, applied with a cotton swab to the stain, rubbing into the fabric from the edges to the center. Leave for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with hot running water, directing the stream from the inside.

Experiments with homemade solvents sometimes lead to damage to things - discoloration, destruction of the structure of the fibers. For added safety, conduct a preliminary test in an inconspicuous area to see how the tissue reacts.

Remove grease stains from clothing, especially inveterate, ingrained in the structure of the fibers of dense tissues is quite difficult. To treat such stains, you can make a cleaning mixture: mix any of the powder sorbents listed above with detergents (laundry soap, dishwashing gel, washing powder). Add a little water to make a pasty consistency. Put the mixture on the soiled places, rub them with a sponge or brush, hold for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse with running water.

Any of the listed methods for stain removal involves the subsequent washing of clothes manually or in a machine at the recommended mode.

After washing, the item must be thoroughly rinsed and dried to make sure that you managed to remove the greasy stain from the clothes. Dry at normal room temperature without using a dryer. Otherwise, if the stain is not completely washed, you run the risk of “welding” its residues to the fabric with hot air. It will be useless to deal with such consequences!
